Who We Are:
We are the Long Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO), advocates for
long term care consumers since 1977. LTCO is a part of a national network
authorized by the Older Americans Act and Ohio law. LTCO is supported by the Western Reserve Area
Agency on Aging, United Way, and other grants and donations.

Whom
We Serve:
We serve as a "voice" for residents of nursing homes, residential
and adult care facilities, and consumers of in-home services. We serve
the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina. Our service
to consumers is free and confidential.
What
We Believe:
Our mission is to promote a long term care system responsive
to the needs and choices of consumer. We believe that:
- Long-term
care consumers are an integral part of our community
- The
delivery of care should enhance their dignity and individuality

Consumer Advocacy

Respond to and resolve complaints, such as:
-Inadequate care
-Privacy issues
-Choices in daily life
-Admission and discharge problems
- Represent
the consumer's perspective in legislative and policy issues
Consumer
Education

Provide referrals and information through our
Options in Long Term Care program for those who need
long term care, using our Provider Data Base
- Provide residents
rights information for residents and families, and training for facility
staff
- Provide information
regarding aging issues
